Tips for Parents of Junior High Students

It is your job as a parent to help your child to make the correct decisions for his/her future. Follow some of these tips to help you along the journey.

  • Check your child’s daily planner each evening.
  • Set up a daily schedule for homework and study time.
  • Monitor homework time and check homework for completion.
  • Eliminate interference of telephone and television during homework time.
  • Review material with your child when studying for tests/quizzes.
  • Have a specific place designated for homework or studying.
  • Organize and break up long-term assignments into smaller sections, to be checked on a regular basis.
  • Encourage your child to be responsible for asking questions when they do not understand and to contact their teachers for additional assistance before/after school.
  • Follow up with your child on missed assignments/school work which are a result of absences.
  • Give praise.
